Switzerland's largest financial infrastructure project

What it's about

The harmonisation of Swiss payment transactions was Switzerland's largest financial infrastructure project. Since payment transactions are business-critical, around 600,000 companies as well as banks and software providers had to migrate their systems to the international ISO 20022 standard on schedule. On behalf of SIX Interbank Clearing AG, CoRelation led the communication for the three-year transition.

Challenge

The differing interests of the stakeholder groups had to be addressed specifically and their individual benefits clearly demonstrated. For this, CoRelation developed a cross-media campaign that reached companies, banks, software firms as well as interest representatives from business, politics and consumer protection alike. In close exchange with industry associations, the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO, FINMA and consumer protection organisations, it was ensured that all interest groups were informed and involved at all times.

Result

With targeted and continuous communication and the consistent involvement of all interest groups, a decisive milestone was reached in 2019: more than 80% of companies were technically able to process the new format.
